Production update!
We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially received permission to film part of Stygian in Tyresta National Park and Nature Reserve, just outside Stockholm. With over 5,000 hectares of protected land, Tyresta is home to some of Sweden’s last remaining primeval forest—deep, untouched woods.
It’s the perfect match for Stygian’s atmosphere: ancient trees, moss-covered stone, and a sense of quiet unease that settles in the further you go.
People settled in Tyresta early on—already during the retreat of the inland ice, the area was used for hunting. Traces of the very first Stone Age inhabitants can still be found today, alongside signs from Viking settlements dating back to the 11th century.
Tyresta has served as hunting grounds ever since the cliffs rose from the sea after the last Ice Age. Seasonal campsites, where quartz shards were struck into cutting tools, remain as silent witnesses to the presence of early humans.
Below is a small selection of images from the beautiful nature reserve.
